Title: Like a Beggar for Its Touch
Summary: John isn't dealing with it.
Fandom: Stargate: Atlantis
Word Count: 2144
Rating/Warnings: NC-17, possessive behavior, mild violence, missing scene for Sanctuary, cheating (sort of), biting, rough sex, romance novel logic, language
Pairing: John/Chaya, John/Meredith
A/N: Sequel to Fever High and Get Down and Crawl. This is really the second half of Get Down and Crawl, but I felt like I was setting up an equivalency between Kolya and Chaya by putting them together, which is just. No. I'm afraid this story still has some issues, but as I told
arymabeth, time has come for this damn story to get off my goddamn couch and get a damn job. Or something. I have some more bits floating around for this verse, but this is the last of it until at least the week after Comic-Con. Also, this verse still needs a damn name. Suggestions welcomed.

1. OMG REMIX OMG
Dude. Somebody took Takes One to Know One, my totally self-indulgent, completely context-free story about Jim Kirk and John Sheppard getting it on, and exploded it into Congrats, You've Met Your Match (The Space Captain Remix), wherein Kirk and Sheppard are the leading BAMFs of Starfleet Academy. And I love it and adore it and cherish it and want to cuddle it.
SO EPIC.
2. I'm, like, still really behind on everything, and it's not going to get better until after Comic-Con. So if I owe you an email, or a comment, or something, rest assured that I haven't forgotten.
(And while I'm on the subject-
clavally! It came! :D)
2a. Despite being totally in the weeds, I seriously have to set aside some time to sit down and write something today- something that's not linguistics-related. I'm starting to get the shakes. Maybe I'll write-or-die some porn or something.

Pick one of my characters (any that are currently in play, inactive, doesn't matter.) And I will tell you:
- Why I decided to play this character
- My favorite scene or bit of interaction concerning this character to date
- My favorite original aspect about this character (world-building for ocs or head-canon for fcs)
- The last thing they did "off screen"
- What their last words would be if they died tomorrow
- What the next thing I'm doing for them is (narrative, post, shelving, whatever)
Bonus Round:
- I will tell you what character of yours I'd like to play mine against
- You ask me a free question (as many as you want)
I have currently on LJ:
Sephiroth
Dante
Tifa
Saix
Fran
Psylocke
Leon (KH)
Not on LJ:
Vincent Valentine
Vergil Sparda
And about a thousand OC's.

*sigh*
I was approved yesterday for a loan to get a root canal next Tuesday. My dental insurance is covering the procedure.. I'm paying 20%, which is roughly $600.00. I would rather just get the tooth pulled and not worry about it, but since it's my top right tooth I've got to get it taken care of. I've got to go back in 2 weeks after the procedure and get a crown.. who knows what that'll cost.
On top of that, I just found out I've got ANOTHER flat tire that I don't have funds to get fixed.
I want MJ to come back. :(

i did it!

yesterday, i spent a little over an hour standing at the corner of Franklin and Jackson, blasting Wesley Willis from an iPod speaker and holding up a sign christening the Wesley Willis Tower! it was a blast...i got such a range of reactions, and it took far longer than expected for building security to kick me off of the premises.
some people wanted to take my picture--a few asked, more didn't. some were sneaky and took photos from across the street. some stopped in front of me, didn't talk to me, and just took my picture. some people walked by and cheered about how awesome Wesley Willis is, and how he whips the llama's ass. some people got the reference completely wrong, and screamed a hearty "what'chu talkin' 'bout, Willis?"
most people just looked at me with confusion in their eyes.
all in all, i'm so glad i did it. i was really bummed when security kicked me off the premises, although i was completely unsurprised. i'm kind of wondering how they found out, since i didn't see anyone who was clearly a security guy until the guy with a Willis Tower tag walked up to me and told me i needed to go across the street. still, i had a pretty good run of it...i got through twenty-five songs before i had to leave.
and, if just one person saw my sign and googled the name Wesley Willis, i did my job. <3

So, I decided I needed a break from doing linguistic theory.
And I used it to write meta about gender norms. ::headdesk::
But anyway,
mercurtin started this discussion about the verse I've been working on (see Fever High and Get Down and Crawl) and
ladycat777's Marriedverse, so blame her. She makes some really excellent points about why these stories simply don't work as stories about canon females. I went off in a totally different direction, based on the shorter comment version of that post, and also this got long; I'm posting it here, but I strongly suggest reading her post first.
I should also point out that while
ladycat777 is lovely and moist and sticky and what not, we're not affiliated in any way; I actually haven't finished reading her het McShep stories, though what I've seen is excellent.
( My thoughts on not-yaoi )
On a related note,
gail19 asked:
Did Meredith donate eggs before having her tubes tied? Cuz *enquiring minds* really need to know.
( Read on! )

1. Allow me to sum up why I'm behind on comments again, and, indeed, my thoughts on commenting in general:

2. God, y'all, I'm so exhausted. My brain is so full of linguistic theory that I feel it might just pop out of my skull at any given moment. I have two (shortish) papers to write before Comic-Con, and an abstract (that I only just decided to submit, uh, yesterday) due on the 31st. The papers I'm not so much worried about, but the abstract is fucking killing me. I'm a little worried about the exploratory, reflexive nature of some of this stuff anyway, and trying to write it in a format that I've (being used to writing abstracts for anthropology) never used before. Lord.
3. OMG COMIC-CON IT IS SO CLOSE. OMG OMG OMG.
Perhaps I will finally get to see HBP then? I assume that'll be the choice for movie night?
4. Happy birthday to that loveliest of lovelies, whose chibis are the great and undying love of my heart,
chkc!

the sears tower officially changes its name to the willis tower tomorrow.
this, of course, means that it is the Wesley Willis Tower.
i think i'm going to go over there, stand on the street, and blast some Wesley Willis songs to commemorate the occasion. who's with me?

Title: Get Down and Crawl
Summary: John is dealing with it.
Fandom: Stargate: Atlantis
Word Count: 1068
Rating/Warnings: R, possessive behavior, (canon) violence, episode tag for The Storm/The Eye
Pairing: John Sheppard/Meredith McKay
A/N: Sequel to Fever High. This is only sort of half of the second bit, but posting them both at once would have led to Unfortunate Implications (more later, when the second half is done). So. Yeah.
